Reading with Rules? Yes, there are rules for English. My book gives us the reading rules. The rules are not there to punish our words but to keep us safe on the road to reading. My book gives reasons for each rule. It gives the words which disobey the rules, called ‘rebels’, and it gives their reasons for disobeying the rules. Each reading rule is followed by a list of words which obey that rule.
Students are encouraged to dress up and act out the reasons behind the spelling of English words. This book supplies an answer for every “Why is it spelt like that?” question. It can also be used to teach reading because the lists are carefully sequenced. Use it side by side with other learn-to-read programs or use it on its own, to learn to read.
The book is in simple English. Many writing rules are included, next to reading rules. Much extra information is included, in boxes, to amaze and entertain. See the first 18 pages at Book Sample.
